I can’t believe it. Speechless. I got the American Express Simply Cash card a couple of months ago as a my spending card. It offer a year with 0% purchases and gives you 1-5% cash back. I was approved initially for 3,000.

That isn’t the unbelievable part. 3,000 is my lowest limit card by far. I was told by a reader that you could request huge credit increases online. This isn’t something that is that unique. What is unique is that they tend to grant them easily and without a hard credit pull!

I found out that I need to fly out to Orlando twice in the next 6 months and would prefer to carry the balance as opposed to dumping cash at it so I though of this card. This was the impetus to test the rumor. I clicked on the ‘increase credit limit’ button. Then I put in my income and asked for 24,900 (25,000 is commonly held as a tier where greater financial scrutiny occurs and I wanted to be below it). I was approved in under 30 seconds.

This card that had the increased limit is a business card so it isn’t reported on my personal report but the mechanism for personal Amex cards is the same. A high credit limit on a card will lower your utilization of that card and of all your cards in sum. Consider this Hustle for a better credit profile!
